Statistics showing figures for 2018 from the home office about the use of animals in research

Oxford university justifies the use of primates in their neuroscience department, highlighting the UK regulation on research using animals. The university has an injunction set in place to protect their staff, students and anyone else involved in the handling and usage of animals in researches.

  1. I think this is good as it highlights the number of animals used in research and provides a basis for many ethical issues surrounding that. The article also explains why the use of animals is necessary for the use of research. However, this article is not specific to just genetically modified animals so may be a bit broad. Maybe we could find statistics on just gm animals to make it more relevant to our Poster title?

  2. agree! this is just to have an overview roughly how many animals are used in general but we can always narrow it down to transgenic animals only
